Leek Open Show 2014 Critique

Thank you to the Committee for inviting me to judge deerhounds and to the two exhibitors who brought their dogs for me to go over. Although a small entry, I thoroughly enjoyed the day.

PG: (2). 1: Greenhalgh’s Regalflight Poacher at Leksmoor. Promising young male, 22 months. Good head, with well set ears, dark eye and nice expression. Strong neck leading into well laid shoulders. Good depth of chest and strong bone. Adequate spring of rib, good length of loin. Strong, well muscled hind quarters and well let down hocks. Movement was fluid and held the topline well. Good reach and drive showing powerful potential despite the heat. BoB 2: Davis’ Kilbourne Nimble at Marivon. Pretty two and a half year old bitch, very different type from 1. Nice head with sweet expression. Good depth of chest and adequate spring of rib. Strong, well muscled hind quarters. In profile showed a nice tuck up and well balanced feminine shape. Lost out on movement showing less reach and drive than 1 though I suspect the heat didn’t help her!
